This is a strong, dynamic composition; the eye is drawn along the line created by the contrast between the grey and green in the background, then along the bold black lines of the twigs towards the leaf, already accentuated by the thoughtful use of focus. The effect is to produce a very satisfying sense of movement within the image.
What I like most about this photograph is the apparent contradiction between the slightly aggressive, almost abstract composition, and the sense of tranquility produced by its balanced tones, what one could call subversive calm.
