Nice use of differential focus and very small depth of field, the only part of the image in focus being the flat part of the leaf. This is a strong, dynamic composition; the eye is drawn along the line created by the contrast between the grey and green in the background, then along the bold black lines of the twigs towards the leaf, already accentuated by the thoughtful use of focus. The effect is to produce a very satisfying sense of movement within the image. What I like most about this photograph is the apparent contradiction between the slightly aggressive, almost abstract composition, and the sense of tranquility produced by its balanced tones, what one could call subversive calm.
First of all, I really enjoy the simplicity and a simultaneous beauty hidding within this photo. It's pretty impressive that the leaf in the foreground, as well as the one behind the middle one, are blurry so one of the leafs can mark out from the others very, very strongly, emphasizing the leaf's "nerves". Also it's transparency makes it looks very harmonic and beautiful! In summary, this photo's main advantages are defined by your well-done play of blurrying that puts a lot of attention on a one leaf, thus giving this photo lots of desired proffessionalism. The second thing I enjoy really much here are the lights, although it is an auxilary aspect it gives this artwork much of a freshness and calmness. Adding these all elements altogether there came out a beautiful picture of a simple, yet such a beautiful leaf that makes it absolutely no different from a casual photo made by a proffessionalist!
It is with good reason that you are very pleased with this one! Did you use some postwork blurring or is it just a perfect focus? Not that this really matters: the photo is great, anyway
